Bush Barrow LozengeThe large gold lozenge measures 18 cms by 15 cms and originally lay on the chest of the skeleton. It is made of very thin gold sheet, has a gentle domed profile, and was originally mounted over a wooden board and held in place by pins. Its original purpose is uncertain. Interpretations have ranged from an elaborate button, to a surveying device for planning Stonehenge.
The lozenge is featured on the BBC Wiltshire History of the World top 10 items!
