AccessibilityWe are committed to ensuring that our building and collections are as accessible as possible - the Museum occupies two Grade II listed Georgian houses, a Victorian school hall and a modern extension!
A platform lift is available to assist users accessing the upper floors - see below.
Service dogs only permitted.
We can offer parking to those with special needs in the car park at the rear of the Museum. Please telephone first to arrange. There is also an on-street disabled parking slot close to the Museum.
Wheelchair users are able to see most of the Museum collections via a lift and ramps:
* GROUND FLOOR. Includes the Medieval, Roman, Iron Age and now our new Prehistoric Wiltshire Galleries. One of our special exhibition galleries and the Museum shop are also on the ground floor, plus a wheelchair accessible toilet.
* There are some small changes of level at the entrance to the galleries on the ground floor, but portable ramps are available.
* FIRST FLOOR. Accessible via a platform lift, includes our Lecture Hall, Archive and Library, Art Gallery, Recent History Gallery, Devizes Gallery and Saxon Gallery. The latter galleries are currently being re-displayed and may close at short notice as work progresses.
Archive and Library. Located on the first floor and accessible via the platform lift for those who find the stairs a challenge.
* More information about our collections are available via a Computer in the Library.
There is a toilet accessible to wheelchair users on the ground floor.
