Finds Liaison Officer

The Portable Antiquities Scheme is a voluntary recording scheme for members of the public who discover archaeological finds (from Prehistory to the 17th Century), whether by chance or whilst field walking or metal detecting.

There is a Finds Liaison Officer in each county in England and Wales who identifies and records these finds. The Wiltshire Finds Liaison Officer, Richard Henry, is usually at Wiltshire Heritage Museum every other Friday, although permanently based at Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum.

Any finds can be left with the Museum for identification by the FLO, and will be entered on to a national database at www.finds.org.uk as part of the country-wide Portable Antiquities Scheme.
