Prior to lockdown we were really enjoying hosting our Curious Kids sessions for under 5’s and their grown-ups. We have missed all those eager faces! We have adapted our session to deliver them on zoom. A chance for younger children to have some interaction with people from outside the home and for families to learn, create and play together – supported by the museum.
Our February Half term session will focus on Saxon Crafts and we will look at weaving jewellery.
The session will be 45 minutes long and will be broken up into short sections, to focus on your interaction, rather than attention to the screen.
Following a similar structure to our in-museum sessions, the digital sessions will be led by Sarah Gregson, our Community Curator.
• The Curiosity Song
• A story
• A quick make activity
• A look at some objects from our Saxon Handling Collection.
• A craft activity
• A show and share for all participants to celebrate their creativity.
This session is ideal for children ages 2 to 5 (including reception aged children). If you have older siblings, they are more than welcome to join in. Older primary school children with SEND are also welcome. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help your child access the session.
Working together via Zoom
Working together via Zoom
This is a session for children and adults to work together and we ask that children in the Zoom session, always have an adult nearby for the duration. Participants will be able to see the other families taking part but chat functions will be switched off and you will be asked to mute yourself for some parts of the session. The session will be password protected and supervised at all times by museum staff. (Our Zoom safety measures are available on request)
