GALLERY TOUR: Folk in the Galleries

Join folklorist Claire Slack to explore the folklore of Wiltshire and the wider world through the objects found in the galleries at Wiltshire Museum.

We'll be sharing stories of magic, folk cures, calendar customs, supernatural creatures, gods and goddesses and more, journeying from prehistoric Wiltshire to modern day Devizes through our archaeological collections.

There will also be an opportunity to visit the Un/Common People: Folk Culture in Wessex exhibition.

The tour will last approximately 90 minutes.

Dates and Times:

Saturday 21 June, 10.30 am
Saturday 19 July, 10.30 am (not 19 June as previously advertised)
Wednesday 23 July, 6.00 pm

Tickets: £11.50 (£5.00 WANHS members) – booking essential. Price includes admission to Museum/exhibition and the tour.

Location: Wiltshire Museum

Accessibility:  The activity will take place in the Museum galleries, located on different floor levels. For those unable to manage the stairs there is a platform lift allowing access to all public areas.

Parking: there is a small car park to the rear of the Museum buildings.  Please park with care and consideration to ensure as many vehicles as possible can use the space.
