Scanning the Past: 3D models of historic buildings, by Robin Ault

Robin trained and worked as an archaeologist for several years before joining the Downland Partnership over twenty years ago.

The Downland partnership are one of the country’s leading historic building survey company’s and have been involved in a wide range projects including everything from Castles to Cathedrals, Bridges to Boats.

The development of modern technologies has had a huge impact on how we record and present historic buildings and Robin will be demonstrating the use of some of these from Laser Scanning to the Digital Photogrammetry and the use of drones.

These surveys have been used to produce not only highly detailed and accurate 2D line drawings but 3D models and Digital imagery of some of the country’s finest buildings (and Ships).

Our Saturday afternoon lectures commence at 2.30pm and last approx. one hour, with time for questions.
