A circular late-afternoon walk led by Isobel Geddes.
A walk looking at the geology and archaeology in the landscape following the Ridgeway from Uffington Castle hill-fort, with the original prehistoric white horse below, to Wayland’s Smithy long barrow.
3.5 miles, approx. 1.75 hours walking plus about an hour looking around the sites.
Details of the day:
Date: Saturday 19 August
Start Time: 5.00 pm. Walk is expected to last a couple of hours or so.
Park and meet: at the National Trust Car park Grid Ref. SU 293 866 (What3Words = gilding.bends.fallen). Turn south off the B4507 at the Woolstone crossroads (signposted to white horse/NT car park)
Cost: £12 (£10 WANHS members)

Terms and Conditions
- Stout footwear, protective clothing to suit the prevailing weather conditions.
- Reasonable mobility will be required – sufficient for a walk of 3 to 4 miles, with some uphill tracks.
- Please ensure that you bring water and snacks; this is particularly important in hot weather.
- The event may be postponed if adverse weather is forecast.
- Unless sold out, bookings will close at 9 am on the day of the outing.
