Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm.

Young Curator’s Club: Kings and Queens

With the Platinum Jubilee next month, we will look at some of the jubilees that have taken place through objects and documents from our more recent history collection.

Investigate unusual artefacts from Queen Victoria’s reign and from the 1950’s when Elizabeth II became queen. You will have the chance to create a design which will paint onto china to create your own commemorative plate. You can paint a Jubilee picture or something to celebrate an event in your own life.

Our Young Curator’s club (previously Young WANHS) is for 8-13 year olds and will take place, as before, on the second Saturday of each month. Sessions are focussed around our collections and exhibitions, and subjects we look at include archaeology, history, natural history and art. Take part in practical activities such as archaeological recording, experiments, art, and walks to local archaeological sites. There are also opportunities to visit or take part in local archaeological digs taking place.

There’s no annual fee, but pre-booking is essential (maximum 12 children per session) to help us plan. Each session costs £6 per child.

New members are always welcome

For more information, please contact Ali Rushent, our Learning and Outreach Officer.

Not yet 8? Then why not come along to our Museum Explorer’s club for 5-7 year olds (3rd Saturday of the month), or Curious Kids for 2 – 4 year olds (first Saturday of the month).

UPDATE: The May Young Curator’s and Museum Explorers will commence at 10.45am and not 10.30am as previously advertised. We apologise for any inconvenience. 7/5/22
