Born in or living in Wiltshire? Then why not enter the Oexmann Art Competition - entries welcome from all ages and prizes awarded.
The object of the competition is to encourage and promote Wiltshire artists and is open to everyone born or living in Wiltshire (Wiltshire Museum reserves the right to ask prize-winners for proof of birthplace or residence).
Entries may be of any subject matter and can be in any two dimensional medium i.e. painting, drawing, collage and printmaking but not computer generated. Entries must be original work and the judges will not consider works that reveal copying, plagiarism or use of photography. 3D entries are only accepted in Children and Young Person’s category (under 18’s)
PICTURE SIZES. To allow the maximum number of entries to be exhibited please note the following restrictions on picture dimensions:
Under 18s* - as at 1 October 2024
- Ages 6 to 14: up to A3 on card or paper.
- Ages 15 to 18: up to A2 on card or paper.
- 3D entries: 25 x 25 x 25 cm
*You must be 18 or under as of 1 October 2024. If you are over 18 after this date then please enter the Adult category
Over 18s
The overall size including frame must not exceed 80cm x 60cm (landscape or portrait).
All these dimensions are strictly enforced due to limited gallery space.

Merit prizes and commendation certificates may also be awarded.
Children and Young Persons
Age 6 - 11:
First: £50
Second: £30
Age 12 - 18:
First: £75
Second: £40
3D: £50
Merit prizes and commendation certificates may also be awarded.
ENTRY FEES:
- Under 18s: Free entry to the competition. Maximum two pictures per person.
- Age 18 - 25: £1.75 for each picture submitted (maximum three entries per person).
- Over 25: £3.50 for each picture submitted (maximum three entries per person).
DELIVERY OF ENTRIES: Please bring your entries to Wiltshire Museum during normal working hours between Monday 23 and Saturday 28 September 2024. Check our opening times here.
JUDGING: Entries are judged by three experienced and well-known artists and will take place on Wednesday 2 October 2024.
PRIZE-GIVING: will be held on Sunday 20 October 2024. All entrants will be invited, but priority will be given to prize-winners.
EXHIBITION: of winning and selected entries will be held at Wiltshire Museum from Saturday 19 October to 23 November 2024.
