Art Auction supporting Wiltshire Museum

Marc Allum

An art auction supporting the work of Wiltshire Museum in Devizes will be held on Friday 28 September, hosted by BBC Antiques Roadshow expert Marc Allum.

The Auction features drawings, prints, paintings, photographs and ceramics by a host of artists, as well as a number of exclusive experiences. Many of the artists are local and include Michael Angove, Susie Brooks, Alan Cowley, Oliver Freeman and David Inshaw.

The sale includes the chance to own an artwork created by internationally renowned artist David Inshaw.  Inshaw, whose 1972 picture ‘The Badminton Game’ took the artworld by storm, lives in the Devizes area and is one of the Patrons of the Wiltshire Museum.

Rachael Holtom, Development Officer at Wiltshire Museum  said We are also offering some fantastic experiences. There’s a chance to take a small group of friends inside the Stonehenge circle before the site opens to the public; the opportunity to visit an art auction with Marc Allum; a visit to the garden of Devizes Castle where the winners will be served strawberries and fizz on the terrace and a fascinating hands-on afternoon exploring the work of  photography pioneer Fox Talbot with Roger Watson of the Fox Talbot Museum in Lacock.

White Horse Hill, Summer by Stella Agnew. Guide price £1,500 – £2,000.

Rachael continued Wiltshire Museum is a really active local museum which looks after some of our county’s most important artefacts but, as an independent charity, we rely on donations from our supporters. This has been a very popular event in the past and we know it will go with a bang from the moment Marc Allum’s hammer hits the gavel!

An online catalogue can be found at www.wiltshiremuseum.org.uk/auction and bids can be placed in advance.
