Volunteer Opportunity: Exhibition Engagement Volunteer

 

We're looking for volunteers to help with our upcoming Eric Ravilious exhibition between September 2021 and January 2022. (Training taking place during August)

This volunteer opportunity will involve talking to visitors and taking care of the exhibition space when we are open. Full training will be provided. Read the full description below.

What is the opportunity?

To be part of a team of volunteers helping to enhance visitor experience during our 2021 Eric Ravilious exhibition.

What does it include?

  • Welcoming visitors to the exhibition and directing them around the space

  • Chatting to visitors and answering questions about the exhibition and Museum

  •  Keeping an eye on things - always remaining viligant regarding the safety and security of visitors and the exhibition

  • Helping keep the exhibition space clean and tidy

  • Assisting with the flow of visitors around the exhibition space

  • Helping us gather visitor feedback through surveys

  • Understanding and complying with the fire evacuation procedure

Time Commitment

Preferably, a regular weekly or fortnightly shift of 1 hour and 45 minutes (or a double shift of 3 hours and 30 minutes). If you cannot make a regular commitment, ad hoc shifts may also be available.

Useful interests

You might find this role particularly rewarding if you:

  • Have an interest in Wiltshire Museum and our exhibition programme

  • Would like to learn about the contents of the exhibition and the Museum’s collections

  • Enjoy working with the public

  • Have, or would like to develop, good communication skills

Training offered

Full training for the role will be provided. Training will include:

  • Tour of the Museum

  • Induction including health and safety, fire evacuation, safeguarding

  • Briefings and training on Eric Ravilious and the exhibition

  • Visitor services and audience survey training

  • Ongoing support from the staff team

  • An optional buddying support system

Experience Offered
