A Stourhead Notebook – David Dawson

A Stourhead Notebook – David Dawson (Wiltshire Museum)

  • The National Trust collections database turned up an image of the front cover of an early 19th century notebook at Stourhead, home of Sir Richard Colt Hoare. Inside lies some interesting evidence about Wiltshire’s archaeology – a newly discovered sketch of the Hatfield Barrow at Marden Henge. The barrow was excavated by William Cunnington and was later levelled, filling in the ditch that surrounded it. The sketch is dated March 1806.
