Dementia Friendly Tour – May: POSTPONED

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Museum will remain CLOSED during May 2020.

* NEW * – Dementia Friendly tours are led by Museum staff and supported by our Community Curator, Sarah Gregson.

These tours are opportunities for people living with Dementia in our community to enjoy our Museum with the confidence that their needs will be understood and supported. We welcome bookings from care settings and from groups of friends or families who want to enjoy this with a loved one who has Dementia. We also welcome individuals and their carers.

All staff and volunteers working on these tours are Dementia Friends.

The tour will focus on two areas of the Museum: The Prehistoric Wiltshire Galleries and & The Devizes Story.

The tour will include:
• An introduction from our Learning Officer or Director (seated in the gallery)
• An opportunity for people to move around each gallery at their own pace.
• An opportunity to handle some objects (seated in the gallery)

Museum staff/volunteers will be there throughout to point out and explain highlights from our displays. You are then welcome to remain at the Museum to take in the rest of our displays.

We do have a lift and access to all levels of the Museum and we will give ample time to move from one area to the other. There are accessible toilets on the ground floor and the entrance to the Museum is level access. There is more access information here. If you have any special requirements please do let us know – hello@wiltshiremuseum.org.uk or 01380 727369.
