New work on old rocks: recent fieldwork in the sarsen fields of Wiltshire – Katy Whitaker (University of Reading)

Katy’s PhD is a ground-breaking study of sarsen stone – looking at the geology, archaeology and history of working sarsens. This presentation will report on recent painstaking fieldwork in two areas of nineteenth and early twentieth century sarsen stone extraction. These surveys have revealed new details about landscapes that you might be familiar with in Piggledene and West Woods.
