- Excavations at Teffont
Last summer a large excavation at Teffont explored a major ancillary site to the large Roman shrine complex that the Teffont Archaeology Project has been investigating for over a decade. Our volunteers, students and placements excavated and recorded an extraordinary elaborated springhead building and a range of other structures supporting visitors to the shrine. This talk will summarise our results and the latest analysis work by our specialist team, and set this in the wider context of the site's interpretation.

- ‘Seeing the monuments for the trees’. A volunteer project to clear scrub from some of Wiltshire’s Scheduled Monuments
Wiltshire is a county extraordinarily rich in upstanding archaeological monuments, many of which are nationally protected as Scheduled Monuments. This does not mean that they are not at risk from a number of agencies, especially uncontrolled growth of trees and scrub. Roland’s talk describes a collaboration between Historic England, Wiltshire Council’s Archaeology Service, and CBA Wessex, to remove scrub from some of the Scheduled Monuments in the County that are most at risk.

- The 'Highworth Circles - some new geophysical discoveries
The “Highworth Circles” are a group of enigmatic circular enclosures located primarily in the Hundred of Highworth. Over 50 of these features have been recorded from aerial photos and LiDAR imagery, but there has been limited archaeological investigation. A recent geophysical survey carried out within an area known to contain a number of circles has discovered several further, previously unrecorded examples, as well as evidence for earlier Roman and Iron Age settlement.

- Repopulating Imber: excavations at Wiltshire’s ‘Ghost Village’ on Salisbury Plain
Increasing military training demands around the old village of Salisbury Plain led archaeologists from Wessex Archaeology and Operation Nightingale to conduct a fortnight of fieldwork to see what, if anything, still lay in the fields at the former heart of the settlement. This talk will show the results.
There will be a sale of high quality pre-owned archaeological publications at bargain prices. Please bring some sturdy bags for your purchases!
There will also be stands from a range of organisations including archaeological contractors and groups such as the Association of Roman Archaeology and Victoria County History
