Description

Summary: 1 small Bronze Age bronze dagger knife or spear head, nearly straight sided and pointed, 3 rivets of which one remains, the handle which disintigrated on excavation was about 30cm long. Found under the skeleton at west end of Roundway Barrow No 6, Roundway, Wiltshire, excavated by William Cunnington.

Research results

A Small bronze age copper alloy knife or dagger, found underneath the primary cremation of the western mound of a conjoined bowl barrow (Roundway G5a) by William Cunnington in 1858. The dagger was found in amongst the woodash of the cremation, and is said to have had a wooden handle, although this disintergrated during excavation.
