Description

Summary: 1 English art pottery hand-crafted 'grotesque' jug in thick majolica style glazes on a whire pipeclay body, a human head with rams horns forming the spout, the belly of the jug depicting a fish surrounded by weed and plants, the exterior incised and filled with heavy majolica style glazes in blue, green, cream and tan on a brown ground, the interior cream slip, manufactured by C H Brannam, Litchdon Pottery, Barnstaple, Devon, 1897, acquired from the McLaren Foundation, Clouds Estate, East Knoyle, Salisbury, Wiltshire, 2005.
