Durrington East Entrance, Avenue and Houses. 2500BC (print)

Description

Summary: Framed gouache on paper entitled, 'Durrington East Entrance, Avenue and Houses 2500BC'. At Durrington, an avenue ran from the south timber circle to the river, and on the slight banks of the Avenue, two open fronted houses were found facing towards the river. A further five excavated houses were located to the right and terraced into the slope of the valley. Some houses had slots for wooden beds and a dresser, and each house had a central hearth. Domestic debris, pots, food, bones and flint were piled between houses, and there were pits where chalk was taken to use for the floors and to deposit pottery. Signed by the artist and dated 2011.\n
