Summary: A photograph of Snowy Chapman and his three sheepdogs. "The Last Shepherd in Tilshead - Snowy Chapman, photo taken in 1940's. Lived in a shepherd's hut on the Plain (most of the time by Filed Barn). Used to cycle down to the village and spend evenings in the Black Horse. Was killed by a ca when cycling along th A360 in the dark, shortly after WW2. One of three brothers, he never married. His last remaining relatives in Tilshead were Mrs Alice Chapman (sister-in-law) and his nephew, John Chapman, her son, 10 West End, Tilshead. Original photograph in the possession ofMrs B Druce, Elmfield, High Street, Tilshead, as at June 2012."
