quern stone fragment

Description

Summary: Fragment (about one half) of a Roman semi-ovoid shaped saddle or grinding quern stone. Made from sarsen. Iron staining suggests it has been used for iron working, and slag deposits from smelting have also been found in the area. Dating to 800 BC - 410 AD. Found in Bromham. 2018.
