Description

Summary: 4 black and white photographs of West Lavington/West Lavington and Tilshead Band, Wiltshire. 1 - members of the band, in uniform and families in and around a charbanc before setting off, c. 1925, the donor's parents, Mr and Mrs Hillier are seated at the back on the far left of the picture, they were married in 1926. 2 - an earlier photograph of a charabanc outing, c.1920's, the donor's father is seated in the centre with his arm over the edge of the vehicle, Curry's Cycle shop and The Central Toilet Saloon (hairdresser/barber) can be seen in the background. 3 - group photograph of the West Lavington and Tilshead Band, c. 1902. William Hillier (donors' grandfather, died 1963, buried at All Saints Church, West Lavington), can be seen seated second right holding a brass instrument. 4 - West Lavington Band c. 1890's. The band members are standing in front of West Lavington Manor which was owned, at the date of the photograph, by Baron Churchill (1st Viscount Churchill).
