Description

Summary: The first card is coloured and shows the main street in Potterne. The Church tower and roof can be seen slightly to the left in the background. The photograph is taken from a height, looking down on the houses.It was published by R. Wilkinson of Trowbridge and has a 1905 postmark on the back. The second card, published by Woodwards, Devizes shows the same stretch of road but the photograph was taken at ground level and only the top of the church tower can be seen in the background.The third card is of the same scene, published by Frith. Cards 4, 5 and 6 show The Porch House, Potterne but have no indication of photographer or publisher. Card four is probably mid 20th century as part of a car can be seen on the right side.Card 7 shows The Porch House, but it is labelled Church house.This was published by Woodwards, Devizes. Card 8 shows the dining hall in the Porch house.
