Description

Summary: 1 perforated axehead of tourmaline granite, red with olive green markings, the nearest source of the rock is Cornwall. The axehead is beautifully formed with no sign of use. It was excavated from a Beaker burial to the south of Woodhenge. The grave contained the crouched skeleton of a man and a beaker as well as the axehead, from Woodhenge, Durrington, Wiltshire, excavated by Mrs M E Cunnington and Mr B H Cunnington, 1926-8.
