Description

Identification note: plus: 2 rim sherds of dark brown fabric: 6 small sherds comprising rim and body sherds of dark brown fabric; 2 rim sherds of dark brown fabric

Summary: 8 sherds of Iron Age pottery, three comprising a total of eleven smaller sherds. There are 7 rim sherds, two of which are formed from five smaller sherds of the neck of a large red vessel, chalk tempered. 1 haematite burnished and decorated sherd. All are marked Db except one coarse bowl sherd marked DbI. All from the early Iron Age Hillfort at Figsbury Rings, Winterbourne Dauntsey, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, excavated by Mrs M. E. Cunnington and Mr B. H. Cunnington, 1924.
