Research results

A Bronze Age bone ring-headed pin, excavated from Wilsford G56 bowl barrow by William Cunnington in the early 19th century. The pin was found with the primary cremation alongside a pair of daggers and a pair of bone 'tweezers'. The pin has been evenly stained dark brown-green, potentially immitating copper alloy and may have been used alongside the 'tweezers' to pin up hair or cloth.
