Summary: An iron socketed spearhead excavated from an Anglo-Saxon grave at Barrow Clump by Operation Nightingale, 2012-2014.

Research results

An iron socketed spearhead, found with a sub-adult probable male during excavations of an Early Medieval burial ground at Barrow Clump, excavated by Operation Nightingale, 2012-14. The spearhead was found resting ontop of an excaptionall well preserved wooden bucket to the left of the skull. The spear is of a type dating to the 5th-7th century, and is well represented in other contemporary Wiltshire cemeteries.
