Discover the secrets of Ancient Egypt in our family friendly exhibition featuring genuine Egyptian artefacts. On loan from the Hampshire Cultural Trust. PRE-BOOKING is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
Discover how ancient Egyptians treated their dead and see genuine objects placed in the tomb for the afterlife, including scarabs and mummified animals, mummy masks and wrappings, shabti (a figurine found in many ancient Egyptian tombs) figures and jewellery.
Light levels will be kept low in order to protect the objects on display. Cases have been spread across two galleries to ensure social distancing.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions PRE-BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. Numbers are strictly limited and you will need to book by 9am on the day of your visit. We can not guarantee entry if you do not pre-book.
Exhibition - dates and location
The exhibition will be on display in our Piper and Oexmann Galleries from 6 August to Sunday 19 December 2020. Entry times will vary so check booking details and pre-book your ticket to avoid disappointment.
Please note - there is a one way system operating around the Museum buildings and these two galleries, are at the end of the route.

Send us your Egyptian themed picture.
To brighten the gallery walls we are inviting children to submit Egyptian themed artwork. Work must be 2D, any medium and on A4 sized paper. Please send to: Heather Ault, Exhibitions Officer, Wiltshire Museum, 41 Long Street, Devizes. SN10 1NS, or drop it off at the Museum. Go on have a go! We will try to display as much work as possible.
Please note:
- If you require the works to be returned, please include a name, address and contact email/tel no with the artwork (on the reverse of the picture if possible) and we will contact you when it can be collected or returned.
- In submitting work for display, you are agreeing to it’s possible use as promotion on our website or social media for the exhibition.
