Speak Out Women of Devizes – textile artist commission

Freelance commission: Textile Artist for Community Project in Devizes

Wiltshire Museum is seeking a textile-artist, experienced in community work, to facilitate a project celebrating women gaining the vote in 1918. ‘Speak out Women of Devizes!’ has been funded by the Women’s Vote Centenary Grant Scheme, which is part of the Government Equalities Department.

Working with three or four groups of women of different ages and backgrounds the artist-facilitator will create vibrant banners to parade in the Devizes Carnival on 1 September 2018. These will celebrate 1918 and women who made an impact in the UK from 1918 -2018 and encourage participants to voice individual concerns and the issues still affecting women today (eg #MeToo).

Download the Speak Out Brief here.

Fee (including 2 planning days , 3 delivery days and materials) : £1300.
Timescale – workshops tbc in May and June.
